Archdiocese of Blantyre adds multi-million school block in Mulanje

The Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Blantyre has constructed a new school block at Vonken Community Day Secondary in Mulanje district at the tune of k12 million.

Speaking during the opening of the school block at Vonken Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) ground, Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa explained that the new school block is to help in improving quality of education in the district.

The archbishop, further urged teachers to strive at achieving high performance of the students at the school.

“Now we should aim at achieving high grades in our national exams, this school block has solved some of the challenges here at Vonken CDSS” said Msusa.

Msusa added further that the Church is geared to improve quality education through adding new secondary and primary schools in the country.

Sister Lucy Tebulo dies at 101

A Catholic nun of Sisters of Blessed Virgin Mary (SBVM) has died on Tuesday at the age of 101.

The nun, Sister Lucy Tebulo has died at Maryview Nguludi in the Archdiocese of Blantyre.

The body of late Sister will be laid to rest on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Maryview. Funeral Mass shall start at 10:00 am.

CCJP supports APAM vigils

The Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) has endorsed vigils planned by Association of People living with Albinism  in Malawi (APAM) slated on 6th to 8th March this year over state failure to end the attacks and senseless killings. 

In a statement signed by CCJP National Coordinator Boniface Chibwana, the Catholic institution has expressed dismay over continued attacks and killings of people living with albinism in Malawi.

CCJP has disclosed that APAM is justified to hold vigils and demonstrations over attacks on persons with albinism in the country.

Couples dance for Priests medical scheme

The fundraising committee of Archdiocese of Blantyre organized a valentine dinner and dance on 15th February, 2019, held at Mount Soche hotel in Blantyre to mobilize financial resources for Catholic priests’ medical scheme.

Speaking at the event, George Yiannakis who was the guest of honor said couples needed to celebrate love in a special way by attending the dinner and dance that had a purpose of generating money for hospital bills for priests in the Archdiocese of Blantyre.
