There will be a special Golden Sunday on 5th June 2016 in all Parishes within the Archdiocese of Blantyre. This is a day set aside to collect funds for daily operations like necessities in the administration offices, workers and some apostolates. Making the special appeal in a letter addressed to all Parishes and institutions, Archbishop Thomas Msusa urged the faithful to be responsible for the running of the Church. He asked Christians to make generous contributions on this day.

The Archdiocesan Financial Administrator, Fr. Paul Nkolombidzo went further to say that in most areas the financial stand of the Archdiocese is not desirable. “We have even prepared ‘pledge cards’ for those that may want to make special donations as individuals, families and institutions”.

All the collections on this day will have to be submitted to the office   of the Financial Administrator or deposited into the accounts of the Archdiocese as soon as possible.

There will be ordination to deaconate at Zomba Cathedral on 21st May 2016. Among those to be ordained are two seminarians from the Archdiocese of Blantyre; Faduweck Katunga of Chiringa Parish in Phalombe Deanery and Blessings Maere from Ntepuwa Parish, Mulanje Deanery. These are young men who have been going through the priestly training for the past seven years and completed their year of probation in 2015.  The Archdiocese of Blantyre is proud to have these young men. Deaconate is the first stage in Holy Orders (sakramenit la ukulu).

The two may be ordained priests next year. We are encouraged to pray for them.
